Women and men have equal rights.

Gender is a social aspect of relations between women and men, which manifests itself in all spheres and life of society, including politics, economics, law, ideology and culture, education and science.

The following is not considered gender discrimination:
  • to identify differences in the regulation of the relationship between the functions of childbirth and breastfeeding;
  • conscription for military service in the manner prescribed by law;
  • take temporary special measures to ensure the implementation of gender policy;
  • features of the protection of the reproductive health of women and men in labor protection;
  • make recommendations on professional qualifications, based on the fact that only persons of a certain gender can perform duties;
  • establishing differences in the regulation of the order and conditions of detention, places of execution of sentences and other measures of legal influence;
  • positive measures aimed at strengthening the social status of women in society, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The main principles of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men are:

  • legitimacy;
  • democracy;
  • equality of women and men;
  •  non-discrimination based on gender;
  • openness and transparency.

Gender indicators can also be formed on the basis of statistical data from citizens' self-government bodies, non-governmental non-profit organizations and other civil society institutions.

Equal participation of women and men in the competition for civil service positions, including for leadership positions, should be ensured.

The personnel services of state bodies are also obliged to provide information on the ratio of the number of women and men holding relevant positions in the civil service.

In connection with the birth of a child, both the mother and the father are entitled to paid leave. The length of parental leave can be divided between them at the discretion of the parent, in which case the parent can use the parental leave in installments.

If a person believes that he or she has been subjected to direct or indirect discrimination on the basis of gender, he or she has the right to appeal to the competent authorities or to the court. At the same time, the state fee is not levied on a person who has been subjected to direct or indirect discrimination on the basis of gender.
