Women are entitled to take maternity leave 70 calendar days before childbirth and 56 calendar days after childbirth (70 seventy calendar days in case of difficult childbirth or the birth of two or more children), and state social insurance benefits.

After the end of the maternity leave, at the request of the woman, she is granted parental leave until the child reaches the age of 2 years, during which the benefit is paid.

  • At the request of the woman, additional unpaid leave may be granted until the child reaches the age of three.
  • Parental leave can also be used in whole or in part by the child's father, grandparents or other relatives who actually take care of the child.
  • Persons on maternity leave may choose to work part-time during parental leave or at home as agreed with the employer. In this case, their pension rights are retained.

The woman's workplace is retained during parental leave. These vacations are added to the length of service, but not more than 3 years in total, including the length of service in the specialty.

The period of parental leave is not included in the length of service, which gives the right to subsequent paid annual leave, unless it is provided by a collective agreement, another local document of the enterprise or an employment contract.
